Today I wanted to share another form of journaling that I have recently gotten into. I got a new Journaling Bible! Have you heard of Bible journaling? I found out about it through Instagram of course! (Don’t you just love Instagram?!) If you search #biblejournaling or #illustratedfaith you will see all kinds of examples of bible journaling, from the most minimal (like mine) to the most extravagant! It really is a creative way to spend time in the word.
I am not the best artist or even great at hand lettering, but I I know that God is pleased with whatever we offer up to Him. As long as we are in his word and giving Him praise He doesn’t care how artistic it is! One of my goals for this year(and life in general) is to read my Bible daily. For the month of January I found this scripture writing challenge from Debbie over at The Architect and The Artist. Each morning I sit down with my tea, journal, and Bible and I read the passage for the day and then journal my thoughts about it. I also add a little color to my pages, some washi tape, and I TRY to hand letter! LOL
I am loving this form of studying the word! The Bible I have (seen in the pic above) is the Crossway Single Column Journaling Bible. It’s comfortable to read and it has plenty of space in the margins for note-taking. If you want to use art mediums in your Bibile, do note that the pages are very thin and most heavy mediums will bleed through. My favorite thing to use IN my Bible are my gelatos! They rub on smooth, blend easily, and do not bleed through the pages. Plus they are very portable if I need to travel with them. I also use my Faber-Castell PITT Artist pen to write with because it doesn’t bleed through the pages either. Of course there will always be shadowing because the pages are so thin. I also use a journal insert in my traveler’s notebook to write down my scripture for the day and jot down my thoughts on it.
If Bible journaling is something that interests you, check out the hashtags on Instagram and Facebook or look it up on YouTube! You will see so many inspirational posts and videos!
